Dr. Matthew Weed

Dr. Matthew Weed was an ophthalmologist specializing in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. He completed his ophthalmology residency and two fellowships at the University of Iowa—one in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus and one in ophthalmic genetics. After his training, Dr. Weed entered private practice at the Spokane Eye Clinic in Washington, where he provided care for children with eye conditions.

He later joined the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah in July 2025. Dr. Weed also contributed to the EyeRounds Editorial Board at the University of Iowa, serving as an editor and alumni editor. His clinical expertise included strabismus, amblyopia, and ophthalmic genetic disorders. We are saddened to share that Dr. Weed passed away on December 25, 2025.
