Dr. Marlene Azar practices medical and surgical comprehensive ophthalmology with a down-to-earth, educational approach. She helps patients understand their diagnosis, lens choices, and the steps of treatment so they can make informed decisions that fit their goals and routines. Her care spans routine exams and contact lens updates to cataract surgery planning and management of chronic eye disease. Dr. Azar earned a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Michigan and a medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. After a transitional year at DMC-Sinai Grace Hospital, she completed ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. She treats cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration, and enjoys partnering with patients to protect vision over the long term.
