About Me
Dr. Maria M. Aaron is a professor in the Department of Ophthalmology within Emory University School of Medicine. She has a large clinical and surgical practice and is frequently ranked in the top 10% of all Emory physicians for patient satisfaction.
Dr. Aaron is deeply committed to medical education. For 14 years, she served as the residency program director for Ophthalmology and now oversees more than 100 training programs and 1300 residents and fellows as the associate dean of Graduate Medical Education. She has received the prestigious Straatsma Award for Excellence in Resident Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education’s Parker J. Palmer "Courage to Teach" Award.
She has been recognized with a Senior Achievement Award by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Contributions as an Examiner of the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Aaron is a natural leader and compassionate physician with an unparalleled passion for education and patient care.
