Meet Dr. Marco Zarbin
About Me
Dr. Marco Zarbin is a retina specialist who serves as Chair of the Institute of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) and Chief of Ophthalmology at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey. He completed his ophthalmology residency and fellowships in vitreoretinal surgery and medical retinal disease at the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he also earned his MD and PhD.
Dr. Zarbin focuses on conditions affecting the retina and vitreous, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other retinal degenerative diseases. He is a Professor of Ophthalmology and Neuroscience at NJMS and co-Director of the Ocular Cell Transplantation Laboratory and Center for Macular Degeneration Research. His clinical practice involves vitreoretinal surgery and medical management of retinal disorders, with a particular interest in cell-based therapies for retinal disease.
