About Me
Dr. Luxme Hariharan is a pediatric ophthalmologist at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, dedicated to caring for children's eye health. Her passion for international health is deeply rooted in her diverse background, having been born in India and raised in Kenya and the United States. As an accomplished global researcher and child health advocate, she focuses on preventing and treating childhood vision disorders worldwide.
She earned her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Hariharan further specialized with fellowships in pediatric ophthalmology at the University of Miami and in pediatric cornea, cataract, and glaucoma at the University of Southern California. She also holds a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, emphasizing global child health policy.
Clinically, Dr. Hariharan treats conditions such as strabismus, amblyopia, and other pediatric visual disorders. She is board certified and actively involved in professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and Combat Blindness International. Her work extends to public health, where she collaborates with the World Health Organization and ministries of health to implement blindness prevention programs. Dr. Hariharan's leadership and service have been recognized with awards such as the Forward Under 40 Award and as a White House Fellow national finalist.
