About Me
Dr. Lois M. Townshend is a board-certified ophthalmologist providing comprehensive eye care to patients in the Plymouth area. With specialized fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus, she treats a wide range of eye conditions including cataracts, strabismus, and eyelid abnormalities in both children and adults. She is committed to improving vision and eye health for her patients.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Townshend is deeply involved in global eye care. She co-founded Mission For Sight, a non-profit organization that performs eye surgery on children in developing countries and trains local surgeons. She has traveled to Mexico, Bangladesh, and Honduras to provide care for children with cataracts, strabismus, and other eye conditions.
Dr. Townshend is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. She is on staff at BID-Plymouth hospital and a member of Cape Cod Preferred Physicians. Outside of work, she enjoys biking and traveling with her family.
