About Me
Dr. Lindsay A. Rhodes is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and glaucoma subspecialist who provides clinical and surgical care for cataracts and glaucoma. She grew up in Las Vegas and earned her undergraduate degree in Biology with Honors from Brown University, where she was a member of the Women’s Crew team and studied abroad in Italy. After working for two years in Washington, D.C. for U.S. Senator Harry Reid, she pursued her medical degree at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Rhodes then moved to Birmingham, where she completed her ophthalmology residency and a glaucoma fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
Dr. Rhodes spent nearly a decade as an Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at UAB, where she taught residents and fellows and conducted innovative public health research. She has been federally funded for her work in telemedicine, aiming to increase access to eye care and prevent blindness through novel health-care delivery methods. Her research includes a five-year, $3.5 million grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to study telemedicine strategies for detecting glaucoma and other eye diseases in rural communities.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Rhodes enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, two children, and two dogs. She loves hiking, biking, paddleboarding, and cross-country skiing. Her unique background includes growing up around horses and rodeo, and she once worked as a wrangler on a ranch in Wyoming. Dr. Rhodes is dedicated to providing personalized, compassionate care and advancing the field of ophthalmology through both clinical excellence and research.
