About Me
Dr. Lana Rifkin is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in uveitis and inflammatory eye diseases at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. She is fellowship-trained in uveitis and is recognized as one of the premier uveitis specialists and researchers in the country. Dr. Rifkin's practice provides comprehensive management for patients with inflammatory eye conditions and general ophthalmology issues across multiple locations in Massachusetts.
She earned her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed her ophthalmology residency there, serving as Chief Resident. Dr. Rifkin further specialized through a two-year clinical fellowship in uveitis at Northwestern University under Dr. Debra Goldstein, where she also served as a Clinical Instructor. Her undergraduate education was at Bellarmine University, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a minor in Spanish, including study abroad in Spain.
Dr. Rifkin is actively involved in professional societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Uveitis Society, and she directs the Uveitis Service at the New England Eye Center/Tufts Medical Center. She has published extensively on eye inflammation, participates in clinical trials, and frequently presents at national conferences. Her clinical expertise covers a range of conditions such as scleritis, various forms of uveitis, HLA-B27-associated disease, herpetic iritis, and ocular sarcoidosis.
