About Me
Dr. Julia Talajic is a specialist in cornea, anterior segment, complex cataract, and refractive surgery, with extensive experience in advanced corneal and cataract procedures. She earned her medical degree from McGill University in 2007 and completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Montreal in 2012. In 2013, she pursued a cornea fellowship at the Devers Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon, training with experts Dr. Mark Terry and Dr. Mike Straiko. She was the first surgeon in Quebec to perform the DMEK technique for corneal transplantation.
Dr. Talajic practices at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont’s University Ophthalmology Centre and is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Montreal, where she mentors residents and cornea fellows. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, emphasizing her commitment to research and education. Her clinical focus includes corneal transplants, complex cataract surgery, and treating conditions such as dry eye, corneal edema, Fuchs’ dystrophy, and keratoconus.
Her research is centered on corneal transplantation techniques, and she has pioneered new therapies like CAIRS for keratoconus. Dr. Talajic is recognized as a leading authority in corneal and anterior segment disorders.
