Dr. Joshua Hicks

Dr. Joshua A. Hicks is a comprehensive ophthalmologist board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has been a key member of the Mountain Empire Eye Physicians team since 2012, providing expert eye care to patients. Dr. Hicks graduated summa cum laude from King College with a double major in chemistry and biology, demonstrating academic excellence early in his career.

He then attended Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where his outstanding performance earned him election into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Following medical school, Dr. Hicks completed an internal medicine internship at East Tennessee State University and advanced his specialization with an ophthalmology residency at the University of Alabama Department of Ophthalmology.

In his practice, Dr. Hicks addresses common and complex eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, and medical retina issues. He has a particular specialty in small-incision cataract surgery, offering patients advanced surgical options. Originally from Bristol, Tennessee, Dr. Hicks continues to reside there with his wife and two children, dedicating his skills to serving his hometown community.
