Dr. Joseph Benevento

Dr. Joseph Benevento is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of conditions affecting the retina and vitreous. He sees patients with age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, retinal vascular disease, and ocular trauma, among other retinal disorders.

Dr. Benevento employs advanced diagnostic technologies and performs a range of retinal procedures, including scleral buckle surgery, small incision sutureless vitrectomy, laser treatments, and intraocular injections. He provides care at Ochsner Health facilities in the New Orleans area.

Dr. Benevento completed his fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Chicago and his ophthalmology residency at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been involved in clinical research and training residents and fellows.
