Dr. Jon Portis

Dr. Jon Portis is a Honolulu-based ophthalmologist who specializes in advanced laser cataract surgery and LASIK. He uses wavefront technology to select the optimal intraocular lens for each patient and performs cataract removal with the LenSx femtosecond laser for precision. He has been a pioneer in Hawaii, being among the first to perform LASIK and the first to implant a multifocal intraocular lens during cataract surgery.

Dr. Portis earned his undergraduate degree with honors in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology and his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed an internship at Queen’s Medical Center and his ophthalmology residency at Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. He has been practicing in Honolulu since 1985 and has been consistently recognized by his peers as a Best Doctor in America from 2001 to 2023.
