Dr. John Parent

Dr. John Rex Parent is an ophthalmologist who diagnoses and treats patients at The Eye Center of Fort Wayne in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he serves as President and CEO. With a professional journey spanning forty years, his clinical expertise focuses on cataract and refractive surgeries. Dr. Parent has lectured extensively in the United States, South Africa, and throughout Europe at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has also authored numerous medical journal articles on advanced cataract and refractive surgical techniques and has been involved in several approval studies for various cataract surgery devices.

Dr. Parent attended Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he received his medical degree in 1977. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. He is board certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology and remains a member of several professional societies, including the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Parent has been recognized by the American Medical Association with a Physician Recognition Award and has been listed among the Best Doctors in America, America’s Top Ophthalmologists, and One of Indiana’s Favorite Physicians.
