About Me
Dr. John Galanis is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist at Galanis Cataract & Laser Eye Center, serving patients in the St. Louis, Missouri area. He has been providing care in the South St. Louis area for over 30 years and specializes in cataract surgery, glaucoma, and LASIK eye surgery.
Dr. Galanis earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed an internship at St. John's Mercy Medical Center and an ophthalmology residency at Bethesda Eye Institute, St. Louis University, where he served as chief resident. He then completed a glaucoma fellowship at Estelle Doheny Eye Institute, University of Southern California. Dr. Galanis is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
In 2025, Dr. Galanis was recognized as a Top Doctor in St. Louis Magazine. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
