About Me
Dr. John D Shepherd is a board-certified ophthalmologist with Nebraska Medicine, specializing in low vision rehabilitation and comprehensive eye care. He sees patients at multiple locations including the Weigel Williamson Center for Visual Rehabilitation and the Truhlsen Eye Institute in Omaha, as well as in Hastings. His clinical focus is on helping patients with low vision conditions to improve their quality of life and maintain independence.
Dr. Shepherd completed his medical degree at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and then pursued residency training in both general medicine and ophthalmology. He further advanced his expertise through a fellowship in low vision rehabilitation at California Pacific Medical Center. With his specialized training, he offers tailored treatment plans for individuals experiencing vision loss due to various eye diseases.
Dr. Shepherd is licensed to practice in Iowa and Nebraska and offers telehealth visits for patients located in these states. He is committed to providing compassionate, state-of-the-art care to help his patients achieve the best possible visual outcomes and adapt to vision changes.
