About Me

Dr. Jay M. Lustbader is an ophthalmologist who serves as the Physician Executive Director of the Department of Ophthalmology for MedStar Health. He is also the director of cornea and refractive surgery and president of the Washington National Eye Center. Dr. Lustbader holds a lifetime certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology and is licensed in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

Dr. Lustbader believes ophthalmology allows him to combine high-tech microscopic surgery with the opportunity to develop long-term relationships with his patients. He finds his greatest satisfaction in restoring sight. In his practice, the patient comes first, and he and his staff offer expertise and experience in a caring environment. Dr. Lustbader provides care ranging from prescribing glasses to the most complex surgical procedures.

Dr. Lustbader has published nearly 50 papers and abstracts on topics in corneal disease and other aspects of ophthalmology. He has also been invited to speak at numerous lectures on his clinical interests.
