Dr. Jason Fan

Jason Fan, MD, PhD, is a retina specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon at Duke Eye Center who cares for patients with complex diseases of the macula, retina, and vitreous. He provides advanced medical therapies and microsurgical repair and partners closely with patients so they feel supported throughout their care journey. Dr. Fan has a special interest in ocular trauma, dislocated intraocular lenses, and diabetic retinal detachments. He earned his MD and PhD at Columbia University and completed ophthalmology residency and chief residency at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, followed by vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Bascom Palmer. His approach blends leading-edge technology with clear, compassionate guidance so patients understand their options and can make confident decisions. He sees patients within the Duke Eye Center network in the Triangle area.
