Dr. James Overlease

Dr. James R. Overlease is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Associated Ophthalmologists of Kansas City. He specializes in the management and surgical treatment of glaucoma and cataracts. Dr. Overlease graduated magna cum laude with a degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Tulsa before earning his medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston. He completed a medical internship at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the Eye Foundation of Kansas City at the University of Missouri, where he was selected as chief resident. He then completed a glaucoma fellowship at the Dean McGee Eye Institute at the University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Overlease is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, the Missouri State Medical Association, and the Missouri Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He offers a range of services including cataract evaluation and surgery, glaucoma evaluation and medical management, glaucoma surgery, diabetic eye exams, Plaquenil screening, and comprehensive eye exams. Appointments with Dr. Overlease are available at the Kansas City office as well as in Warrensburg and Sedalia.
