Meet Dr. Howard Chen
About Me
Dr. Howard H. Chen is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in diseases and surgery of the vitreous, retina, and macula. He has been treating patients at the Retinal Diagnostic Center since 1999, focusing on conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachments. Dr. Chen completed his ophthalmology residency at Yale University, where he served as chief resident, followed by a two-year fellowship in retinal and vitreous disorders at the Shiley Eye Institute at U.C. San Diego. He holds attending privileges and performs surgery at major hospitals in the South Bay Area, Santa Cruz Area, and the Peninsula.
Dr. Chen is a Fellow of the American Society of Retinal Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has served as past Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Community Hospital of Los Gatos (now El Camino Hospital of Los Gatos) and past Vice Chairman of the Ophthalmology department at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose.
