Dr. Louis Cai is a board-certified vitreoretinal surgeon who treats medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. He explains imaging and exam findings in plain language and works with patients to choose a plan that protects central and peripheral vision over the long term. His interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, complex retinal detachments, and macular disorders. Dr. Cai completed ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. He earned his MD through the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s combined BS/MD program. In addition to patient care, he has coauthored numerous publications and enjoys exploring how new technologies can improve retinal outcomes.
