Dr. Louis Cai

Dr. Louis Cai is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal surgery. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and received fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, which is consistently ranked as the number one eye hospital in the country.

He treats a variety of medical and surgical retinal conditions, including retinal tears, retinal detachments, age-related macular degeneration, secondary lens placement, and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Cai has co-authored over thirty papers and presentations and has a keen interest in the intersection of artificial intelligence and medicine.

He is the producer and co-host of "Straight From the Cutters Mouth," a retina podcast for vitreoretinal surgeons, and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Vit Buckle Society. Originally from Florida, Dr. Cai is fluent in English and proficient in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. Outside of clinic, he co-founded Cosign AI, a digital health startup, and enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.
