Meet Dr. Henry Tseng
About Me
Dr. Tseng is an ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist who cares for adult patients at Duke Eye Center. His practice and research focus on glaucoma and its connection to the brain. When treating patients, his first step is to get to know them as individuals, taking the time to learn their full medical history rather than focusing only on eye problems. After developing a treatment plan, Dr. Tseng believes in clearly explaining it to patients and answering their questions.
As a clinician-scientist, Dr. Tseng applies his research findings directly to patient care. He is particularly interested in the idea that glaucoma is not solely a disease of high eye pressure but also a degenerative condition of the brain, similar to Alzheimer's disease. His research aims to develop methods to prevent the death of brain cells involved in vision and to replace cells that have been lost. He uses advanced imaging technology in the laboratory to further this work.
Dr. Tseng serves as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Duke and is board certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He provides a range of treatments including cataract surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and premium lens implantation.
