Meet Dr. Michael Sena Quist

Dr. Michael S. Quist is a glaucoma specialist and ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for glaucoma and cataracts. At Duke Eye Center, he emphasizes early detection using advanced imaging and careful visual-field testing, then tailors treatment—from medicines and lasers to minimally invasive and traditional surgeries—to each person’s disease and goals. He believes good care starts with education and partnership, taking time to explain anatomy, test results, and options in plain language so patients can decide with confidence. Dr. Quist earned his MD at Duke University, completed ophthalmology residency at Duke, and pursued fellowship training in glaucoma at Duke University Eye Center. In clinic and the operating room, he focuses on preserving vision while minimizing the burden of therapy. He also enjoys teaching trainees at Duke and staying current with research that improves outcomes and quality of life for people living with glaucoma.
