She earned her medical degree from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, graduating with honors in surgery and ophthalmology. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Cincinnati, where she served as chief resident and presented on cancer-associated retinopathy, lupus retinopathy, and retinal phlebitis.

Dr. Khaja holds certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the Cincinnati Society of Ophthalmology.
