About Me
Dr. Hans E. Grossniklaus is a senior professor of Ophthalmology at Emory University School of Medicine and the founding director of the Ocular Oncology and Pathology service. He is board certified in both ophthalmology and anatomic pathology, with expertise in diagnostic ophthalmic pathology and ocular oncology. His clinical practice focuses on treating patients with ocular malignancies, including conjunctival, retinal, iris, ciliary body, and choroidal tumors, using surgery, lasers, and radiation therapy.
Dr. Grossniklaus has extensive experience in ophthalmic pathology research, including drug delivery and translational research. He served as the director of the Submacular Surgery Trials Pathology Center and has been involved in clinical trials for uveal melanoma. His research interests include the treatment of primary ocular melanoma and retinoblastoma, as well as controlling metastatic melanoma from the eye to the liver.
With over 500 publications and numerous awards, Dr. Grossniklaus is a recognized leader in his field. He regularly sees patients with ocular cancers and provides comprehensive care through his roles at the Emory Eye Center and Winship Cancer Institute.
