Meet Dr. Guillermo Amescua
About Me
Dr. Guillermo Amescua is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in corneal and external diseases, cataract surgery, and refractive surgery. He serves as a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and the Medical Director of the Ocular Surface Program at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Dr. Amescua provides comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages, from newborns to adults, and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
His clinical expertise includes the management of complex corneal conditions such as ocular surface disorders, scleritis, and high-risk corneal transplantation. He is skilled in advanced surgical techniques including anterior segment reconstruction, keratoprosthesis, and complex cataract surgery. Dr. Amescua also offers virtual care appointments, providing patients with flexible access to his expertise.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Amescua is actively involved in research focused on ocular microbiology, corneal transplantation, and ocular chemical and thermal burns.
