About Me
Gelareh Abedi, MD is a vitreo-retinal surgeon at Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Medical Center. She grew up in Southern California and graduated from UCLA before attending medical school at the University of Vermont School of Medicine in Burlington. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, followed by a two-year fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery and disease at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Abedi previously served as an assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Sciences before joining Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Medical Center, where she is glad to return to California.
In her practice, Dr. Abedi specializes in treating a variety of vitreo-retinal diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, macular hole, and retinal detachments. She loves her work and relies on a dedicated and exceptional team to provide comprehensive care. She is fluent in English and Farsi, which helps her communicate effectively with a diverse patient population.
Dr. Abedi firmly believes in Kaiser Permanente's philosophy of health in body, mind, and spirit, and she strives to live this every day. Family life is her major priority, and she enjoys camping, hiking, biking, reading, and cooking in her spare time.
