Meet Dr. Gary Whakuk Chung

Dr. Gary W. Chung is a board-certified ophthalmologist at Evergreen Eye Center who specializes in diseases of the cornea and external eye. He has extensive experience in bladeless micro-incisional cataract surgery, LASIK, and the implantable collamer lens (ICL) procedure, with a particular focus on dry eye disease. Dr. Chung believes that optimizing the health of the ocular surface before surgery leads to the best outcomes for his patients.

Dr. Chung completed his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. He then pursued fellowship training in cornea, refractive surgery, and external diseases at the University of Minnesota. He has participated in numerous research studies, published in ophthalmic journals, and authored a chapter in a leading textbook on corneal disorders. Dr. Chung is a member of several professional societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, The Cornea Society, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has been recognized by his peers as a Top Doctor in Seattle Magazine and Seattle Met Magazine.
