About Me

Dr. Frederick Nelson is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who focuses on refractive and cataract surgery. An independent laser eye surgeon with The LASIK Vision Institute, he performs modern LASIK and PRK as well as cataract surgery with a patient-first, education-forward approach. As someone who has undergone LASIK himself, Dr. Nelson is attentive to comfort, clear expectations, and smooth recovery, and he enjoys helping patients experience life with less dependence on glasses or contacts. Dr. Nelson serves as Medical Director of Ophthalmology at Nellis Air Force Base and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Uniformed Services University. He completed medical school in the Washington, DC area and ophthalmology residency training in San Antonio, where he developed expertise in laser vision correction and refractive cataract care.
