Meet Dr. Frederick David Nelson

Dr. Frederick Nelson is a comprehensive ophthalmologist who specializes in refractive surgery (LASIK and PRK) and cataract surgery. As an independent laser eye surgeon at The LASIK Vision Institute, he performs modern laser vision correction procedures with a patient-first approach. Having undergone LASIK himself, Dr. Nelson is attuned to the patient experience and focuses on ensuring comfort, clear expectations, and a smooth recovery.

Dr. Nelson serves as the Medical Director of Ophthalmology at Nellis Air Force Base and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University. He completed medical school in the Washington, DC area and ophthalmology residency in San Antonio, Texas. He is passionate about eye surgery and dedicated to providing an excellent experience for each patient, finding great joy in witnessing the life-changing benefits of restored vision.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Nelson stays active in his community and enjoys pickleball, football, hiking, camping, running, and spending time with his wife and four children.
