About Me
Dr. Gragoudas is a physician and surgeon at Massachusetts Eye and Ear and a professor at Harvard Medical School. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases, macular degeneration, and intraocular tumors. Dr. Gragoudas is widely recognized for his pioneering work in the use of proton therapy for eye tumors, a treatment that has been adopted internationally. He has also made significant contributions to the development of photodynamic therapy for age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and to anti-angiogenesis therapy targeting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which has transformed the treatment of neovascular AMD.
Dr. Gragoudas’ clinical interests include retinal diseases, macular degeneration, and intraocular tumors. His research has advanced the understanding and management of these conditions, offering patients innovative treatment options. He serves as the Distinguished Director of the Retina Service at Mass Eye and Ear.
