About Me

Dr. Esther Lee Kim is a vitreoretinal surgeon at Orange County Retina who provides specialized care for diseases of the macula, retina, and vitreous. Patients see her for conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular pucker, macular holes, and other retinal problems that can affect vision. She also manages complex cases, including secondary intraocular lens placement following complicated cataract surgery, and she incorporates retinal imaging and clinical trials when appropriate.

A Southern California native, Dr. Kim completed her undergraduate studies at Princeton University and earned her medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine. She trained in ophthalmology at the USC Roski Eye Institute/Los Angeles County Medical Center and completed fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery at Massachusetts Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School. She contributes to the retina field through publications, presentations, and ongoing work to advance therapies for retinal conditions.
