About Me
Dr. Erika N. Wandel is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist. She provides comprehensive eye care with a focus on glaucoma management and treatment. Dr. Wandel graduated with honors from the University of Chicago and has engaged in humanitarian work with the United Nations in Brussels and Eastern Europe, as well as helping to establish healthcare services in underserved areas of Chicago.
She completed her medical degree at New York Medical College, followed by an internship at Greenwich Hospital where she received recognition for her compassionate care. Dr. Wandel then undertook her residency in ophthalmology at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and advanced her expertise through a glaucoma fellowship at Mt. Sinai Hospital. She is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society, regularly presenting at academic conferences.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Wandel serves as an ophthalmology attending physician at Yale New Haven Hospital. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband who is a primary care doctor, and her children. Her personal interests include biking, reading, and amateur rowing at a local club.
