About Me
Dr. Eric Crowell, M.D., MPH, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in uveitis, or inflammation of the eye, and ocular immunology. He serves as the clinical director of UT Medicine's Mitchel and Shannon Wong Eye Institute and is an assistant professor in the Dell Medical School Department of Ophthalmology at The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Crowell is dedicated to providing expert care for patients with complex inflammatory eye conditions.
Dr. Crowell completed his medical degree at McGovern Medical School and a fellowship in uveitis and ocular immunology at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. His training also includes an internship in internal medicine and a residency in ophthalmology, where he served as chief resident. This comprehensive background equips him to manage a wide range of ocular diseases.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Crowell is active in clinical research focusing on the treatment of ocular inflammation. He serves on committees for the Ophthalmic News and Education Network and the American Uveitis Society, contributing to advancements in eye care. His interests include health care technology and expanding innovative therapies into global health settings.
