About Me
Emily Sarah Charlson, MD, PhD is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in oculofacial, orbital, and aesthetic plastic surgery. She focuses on eyelid reconstruction, functional and cosmetic eyelid procedures, and facial rejuvenation with a priority on protecting ocular health. Dr. Charlson offers a full spectrum of surgical and in-office treatments, and emphasizes natural-looking results, meticulous technique, and careful preparation for patients with dry eye or meibomian gland dysfunction.
Dr. Charlson graduated summa cum laude in Biology from Arizona State University’s Barrett Honors College, then completed both an MD and a PhD in Cell & Molecular Biology at the University of Pennsylvania. She finished ophthalmology residency at the UC Irvine Gavin Herbert Eye Institute and a two-year fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery/Orbital Oncology at the Byers Eye Institute at Stanford. She is among a select group of physicians certified by ASOPRS and is trained in advanced, minimally invasive eyelid and brow procedures as well as modern dry eye therapies.
