Meet Dr. Derek Bitner
About Me
Dr. Derek P. Bitner is a board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatric ophthalmologist who cares for children with eye conditions that can affect vision development and quality of life. He has been seeing patients at Wolfe Eye Clinic since 2016 and is known for combining careful, kid-friendly care with modern ophthalmic technology. He is also fluent in Spanish, helping more families feel comfortable and understood during visits.
Dr. Bitner treats pediatric ophthalmology concerns including strabismus and amblyopia, and he also evaluates pediatric glaucoma and cataracts. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona and completed medical school at Baylor College of Medicine. He trained in ophthalmology residency at the Dean McGee Eye Institute (University of Oklahoma Health Science Center) and completed a Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus Fellowship at the Duke University Eye Center. He participates in clinical research through PEDIG and has presented on topics such as amblyopia and strabismus.
