Harrison Sciulli, MD, is a vitreoretinal specialist committed to protecting and restoring sight for patients across central Ohio. He joined The Retina Group after completing a retina fellowship at Retina Associates of Cleveland and looks forward to caring for patients at the practice’s Neil Avenue, McNaughten Road, Delaware and Newark locations. Dr. Sciulli earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University. He provides comprehensive medical, laser and surgical care for macular, retinal and vitreous disorders, and takes time to explain imaging, treatment options and follow-up so patients and families know what to expect. Whether addressing urgent symptoms such as new flashes and floaters or managing chronic conditions like macular degeneration, his goal is to combine clear communication with precise, evidence-based care. Outside the clinic, he enjoys trivia, weightlifting, fishing and reading.

Dr. Mashal Akhter

Mashal Akhter, MD, is a vitreoretinal surgeon who treats the full spectrum of medical and surgical retina conditions. Her interests include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, macular hole and epiretinal membrane, ocular inflammatory disease, and complex retinal detachment repair. Patients value her combination of technical skill and steady, compassionate communication throughout evaluation, treatment, and follow-up. Dr. Akhter earned her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University and completed ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute/Wayne State University School of Medicine, where she was recognized by her peers for compassionate care. She then completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the University of Southern California Roski Eye Institute, serving as chief fellow. She is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and sees patients across several Central Ohio locations.

Dr. Reece Bergstrom

Reece Bergstrom, DO, is an ophthalmologist with specialized training in retina who provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for retinal disorders. He routinely evaluates and treats diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, epiretinal membrane, uveitis, retinal detachment, and other conditions that threaten central and peripheral vision. Dr. Bergstrom emphasizes thorough education at each visit so patients understand their diagnosis and the purpose of injections, lasers, or surgery when recommended. He completed medical school at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine, residency at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital, and vitreoretinal fellowships at the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he now practices. He collaborates closely with primary care and endocrinology colleagues and is committed to compassionate, patient-centered care in both clinic and the operating room.
