About Me

Courtney Francis, MD, is a professor and division director of neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Washington, where she also serves as the medical director of the UW Medicine Eye Institute. She specializes in neuro-ophthalmology and adult strabismus, with a patient care philosophy centered on education and active patient participation.

Dr. Francis treats a wide range of conditions affecting the visual system and the brain, including optic neuropathies, cranial nerve palsies, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, and tumors involving the visual pathways. She also manages patients with systemic diseases such as multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, and thyroid eye disease. Her clinical practice includes both medical and surgical treatments, and she actively participates in multidisciplinary clinics for complex cases.
