About Me

Dr. Christopher Newton is a board-certified ophthalmologist and corneal specialist at Rhode Island Eye Institute. He focuses on the medical and surgical management of corneal and anterior segment diseases, treating conditions such as keratoconus, Fuchs' dystrophy, corneal ulcerations, ocular surface disorders, and chronic dry eye. Dr. Newton also performs refractive surgery and offers modern cataract surgery with presbyopia-correcting lens implants and astigmatism-reducing techniques.

Dr. Newton completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Vermont, where he graduated magna cum laude, and earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He went on to complete an ophthalmology residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University and a fellowship in external disease and refractive surgery at the University of Minnesota. After practicing in New Hampshire for four years, Dr. Newton relocated to Rhode Island in 2008 and has been part of Rhode Island Eye Institute since then.
