Dr. Charles Williamson

Dr. Charles Williamson is a board-certified ophthalmic surgeon and the founder and medical director of Williamson Eye Center. With over 35 years of experience, he has established himself as a leading cataract and refractive surgeon, helping to pioneer clear corneal cataract surgery under topical anesthesia, a technique now widely used around the world. He has also been instrumental in developing the first outpatient eye surgery center in Louisiana and the first LASIK surgery center in the Baton Rouge area.

Dr. Williamson is a nationally and internationally recognized lecturer who has taught thousands of surgeons the art and science of modern cataract surgery. He has published numerous articles, monographs, and textbook contributions on cataract and refractive surgery. As a second-generation eye doctor, he continues a family tradition of providing eye care to the Baton Rouge community.

His clinical expertise encompasses a wide range of conditions and procedures, including cataract surgery, LASIK, glaucoma management, dry eye treatment, diabetic eye care, and keratoconus management.
