About Me

Dr. Behnaz Rouhani is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. She is highly skilled in advanced corneal transplantation techniques, including DMEK, DSEK, and CTAK, as well as corneal collagen cross-linking, LASIK, PRK, and femtosecond laser–assisted cataract surgery. Her expertise also extends to pterygium surgery, anterior segment reconstruction, and the diagnosis and treatment of ocular surface tumors and corneal dystrophies. Dr. Rouhani is recognized for combining state-of-the-art surgical techniques with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

Dr. Rouhani earned her medical degree with high honors from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran. She then completed a clinical research fellowship in ophthalmology at the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute at the University of Colorado, followed by an ophthalmology residency at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, where she served as Chief Resident. She further advanced her training with a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the Ross Eye Institute, State University of New York.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Rouhani is actively engaged in research, participating in multiple clinical trials including the Phase 3 SEER-2 study on neurotrophic keratopathy and a study on inflammatory biomarkers in tear film. She is also board-certified in Internal Medicine, which provides her with a comprehensive understanding of how systemic conditions affect eye health. Dr. Rouhani is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and Internal Medicine, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and an active member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She is fluent in Farsi and conversant in French, allowing her to connect with a diverse patient population.
