About Me
Dr. Arezo Amirikia is a board certified ophthalmologist with advanced training in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous. She is currently in private practice and also serves as Division Chief of the Department of Ophthalmology at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. Dr. Amirikia is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Amirikia specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal disorders, including diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and retinal detachments. She offers both medical and surgical treatments, such as intravitreal injections and vitreoretinal surgery. Her extensive training at leading institutions, including a medical retina fellowship at New England Eye Center and a vitreoretinal fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, provides her with the expertise to manage complex eye conditions.
Beyond clinical care, Dr. Amirikia is actively involved in clinical research, having participated in numerous multicenter trials. She also contributes to the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Her dedication to advancing the field of ophthalmology is reflected in her leadership roles, including serving as President of the Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
