Dr. Anne Kao

Dr. Anne Kao is an ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive eye care with additional expertise in neuro-ophthalmology and ophthalmic plastic, orbital, and reconstructive surgery. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Doheny Eye Institute/Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center, where she also finished fellowships in neuro-ophthalmology and oculoplastics. Dr. Kao is a member of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society and regularly attends conferences and consults with colleagues to stay current in her field.

Dr. Kao was drawn to ophthalmology after witnessing the profound impact of eye care on quality of life during a summer at an eye hospital in India. She values the mix of medicine and surgery in ophthalmology and believes in listening closely to patients to understand their concerns and fears. She strives to ensure her patients are active participants in their treatment decisions.

Dr. Kao practices with the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, where she appreciates the collaborative environment and dedication to community health. She moved to Hawaii with her family to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and strong sense of community.
