About Me
Dr. Bessette is a skilled and caring physician specializing in medical retina and uveitis. She completed her medical degree at Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons and her ophthalmology residency at the University of Rochester Flaum Eye Institute. She furthered her training with two fellowships at the Cleveland Clinic's Cole Eye Institute, one in medical retina and uveitis and another focused intensively on uveitis. Her research interests include imaging neovascularization associated with the retina and posterior segment disease.
As a medical retina specialist, Dr. Bessette diagnoses and treats a range of conditions. As a uveitis specialist, she cares for both adult and juvenile patients with inflammatory diseases affecting the front and rear parts of the eye. She routinely manages age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, inherited retinal diseases, uveitis, ocular complications of Sarcoidosis, ocular toxoplasmosis, and cataracts.
Dr. Bessette is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology and serves as a voluntary clinical assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.
