About Me

Dr. Andreas K. Lauer is the Director of the OHSU Casey Eye Institute and Chair and Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology. He holds the Margaret Thiele-Petti and August Petti Endowed Chair. Dr. Lauer specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the retina and vitreous and is recognized internationally as a leading ocular gene therapy surgeon.

He has extensive experience in clinical research, serving as an investigator in trials for age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, inherited retinal diseases, retinal vein occlusions, and retinopathy of prematurity. Dr. Lauer has also held leadership roles including ophthalmology residency program director, retina fellowship program director, and head of the vitreoretinal division. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Lauer's practice focuses on providing comprehensive care for patients with complex retinal conditions, including those requiring advanced surgical interventions and gene therapy.
