About Me
Dr. Talal Alabduljalil is a board-certified ophthalmologist by both the American Board of Ophthalmology and the Canadian Board of Ophthalmology. He has completed advanced fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery and ophthalmic genetics, with a focus on inherited retinal diseases and gene therapy. Dr. Alabduljalil currently serves as the Chairman of the Faculty of Ophthalmology of Kuwait at the Kuwait Institute of Medical Specialization and is the CEO and Founder of the Alabduljalil Eye Clinic. He also holds an appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Surgery department at Kuwait University and practices as a vitreoretinal surgeon and ophthalmic genetics specialist at Amiri Hospital and the Mohammed Aldukhan Eye Center in Kuwait.
His clinical expertise includes the diagnosis and management of complex retinal conditions, genetic eye disorders, and the application of advanced surgical techniques. Dr. Alabduljalil is deeply involved in research, particularly in the areas of inherited retinal dystrophies, gene therapy, and the use of advanced imaging technologies. He founded the Kuwait Visual Impairment Registry and the Kuwait Ophthalmic Genetics Clinic to improve patient care and advance the understanding of genetic eye diseases in the region.
Dr. Alabduljalil has received numerous awards for his research, including the John Gaby research day prize and the Lim family memorial fellowship award. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and presented his work at international conferences, contributing to the advancement of ophthalmology and retinal care.
