About Me
Dr. Alexander Foster is a cornea and external disease specialist at Davies Eye Center. He was born and raised in San Diego and completed his medical degree at the University of Southern California, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He then moved to the Pacific Northwest for his ophthalmology residency at the University of Washington, followed by an additional year of subspecialty training in cornea transplant.
Dr. Foster performs a high volume of LASIK and cataract surgery, utilizing the latest intraocular lens technology. He takes a personalized approach to cataract surgery and has extensive experience with the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens. As a consultant and principal investigator for several intraocular lens manufacturers, he stays at the forefront of lens innovation.
As a subspecialist, Dr. Foster performs all types of corneal transplant, including penetrating grafts, anterior lamellar grafts, and endothelial grafts. He is the only surgeon in North County offering Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK). He also manages complex anterior segment conditions such as pterygium, iris repair, and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, and is often referred these cases by local colleagues.
