About Me
Dr. Alex Cohen is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, LASIK, corneal transplants, glaucoma surgery, and intravitreal injections for macular disorders. He provides comprehensive eye care with a focus on corneal and external diseases, having completed a fellowship in cornea external diseases.
Dr. Cohen earned his Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Pharmacology from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. He then completed his ophthalmology residency and a fellowship in cornea external diseases at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Following his training, he served as faculty at the Dean McGee Eye Institute in Oklahoma City, where he was the fellowship director and held the Stanley Muenzler, MD Endowed Professor of Corneal Disease.
Currently based in Arizona, Dr. Cohen contributes to the field as an oral board examiner and exam development committee member for the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also involved in global health, having helped establish a high-volume eye care program in Eswatini since 2015.
