About Me
Dr. Alethea Hein is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained oculoplastic surgeon who has joined the Riverside Eye Center team. She specializes in treating a wide range of eye conditions including cataracts, droopy eyelids, eyelid lesions, misdirected eyelashes, and malpositioned eyelids. Additionally, she provides medical and laser treatments for glaucoma, medical treatments of diabetic retinopathy, and management of macular degeneration. Dr. Hein is dedicated to offering advanced oculoplastic surgical care alongside comprehensive medical eye care for her patients.
Dr. Hein earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina and completed both her ophthalmology residency and oculoplastic fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in 2012. She is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Before moving to Maine to join Riverside Eye Center, she practiced in her home state of Iowa.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Hein enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, including hiking with her husband and four children. She also has personal interests in reading, baking, and learning about different cultures. She is excited to be part of the Riverside Eye communities in Lewiston and Norway, bringing her specialized skills and compassionate care to patients in the region.
