Meet Dr. Alberto Giuseppe Distefano

Dr. Alberto G. Distefano is a board-certified ophthalmologist at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai who specializes in oculoplastic surgery and neuro-ophthalmology. He cares for patients with eyelid and orbital concerns as well as vision and nerve-related eye problems.

He performs both cosmetic and functional procedures, including eyelid and brow surgery (blepharoplasty, ptosis repair, brow lift, ectropion and entropion repair), tear-duct surgery, and orbital reconstruction after skin-cancer removal (Mohs) or trauma. He also offers injectable treatments such as botulinum toxin and dermal fillers when appropriate.

Dr. Distefano evaluates complex neuro-ophthalmic symptoms such as optic nerve swelling, optic neuritis, unexplained vision loss, pupil changes, and double vision. His research interests include thyroid eye disease, eyelid disorders, and neuro-ophthalmic conditions.
