About Me
Dr. Fred Chien is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in retinal diseases. He graduated with departmental honors in Biophysics from Johns Hopkins University and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Dr. Chien completed his medical degree at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and his internship at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
He then pursued his residency in Ophthalmology at Stanford University, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in Medical Retina at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Dr. Chien focuses on diagnosing and treating conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, wet and dry macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions, and retinopathy due to medications like hydroxychloroquine.
Dr. Chien is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has contributed to medical research with publications in journals including Nature Neuroscience, Neuron, Archives of Ophthalmology, Retina, and Jama Ophthalmology. His expertise ensures comprehensive care for patients with complex retinal disorders.
